Cambridge Trip

On Thursday 8th September a coach of Camp Hill Year 12’s set off for Cambridge. We were off to Newnham College to get to know people in our new forms.

When we arrived we were given our room keys, and spent quite some time comparing each other’s rooms, and getting jealous of the lucky ones with pianos in their dorms. After we had settled in we were given an introductory talk by Mrs Boote-Powell, explaining the itinerary for the two days. Following that, we were split into two groups, and were given both an enlightening tour of the beautiful grounds of Newnham and a talk from Dr. Lucy, the head of admissions, for the college. The talk was very interesting and gave us a chance to ask questions about university life.

After lunch in the ’buttery’ we went onto the fields in our brand new forms to take part in team-building activities. This was highly useful for us all as we got the chance to get to know some of the new girls and gave them a chance to get to know us. Following the activities, we watched each other’s highly amusing house drama performance and headed down to dinner and then to bed.

On Friday morning we were again split into two groups which were both given very useful talks by Mrs Price and Dr Graham Powell. After the talks we were given free time to explore Cambridge which was a valuable experience for all of us, especially getting to witness a busking man in a bin!

Exhausted, we all boarded the coach and headed home after an extremely valuable and enjoyable trip. We would like to thank all of our form tutors, Mrs Price and Mrs Boote-Powell for organising the trip for us.

Judi, Becky and Olivia.
