The Physical Education Department develops the self-esteem, dignity and respect of all members of the school community. Physical Education is crucial to pupil development; it can contribute to spiritual, moral, cultural and most importantly physical development.

There is a gymnasium, swimming pool and a well-equipped Sports Hall, housing teaching classrooms with Interactive Whiteboards for the delivery of the examination courses in Physical Education and Dance, as well as a fitness suite, and a dance studio.

An active house system provides further enrichment - with regular competitions in netball, hockey, football, dance, tennis, rounders, swimming and an annual sports day.

We have had considerable success in a number of sports, having recently reached national final (top 16 in the country) status in netball. Girls also achieve individual representative honours reaching county status in hockey, netball, athletics, cross country and badminton. Several girls have attended talent camps having been talent spotted at regional and national events for a wide variety of activities.

There is a strong fixture-list for netball, hockey, swimming, tennis, rounders and athletics. When appropriate, trips are organised to top sporting events such as Wimbledon, and the Eiropean Indoor Athletics Championships.

Throughout the year the curriculum is enriched by inviting external agencies in to deliver workshops and coaching; these have recently included; Bollywood Dance, Tag Rugby, Gaelic Football, Yoga and Tennis.

There is also advice on what employers want from their staff, the right qualifications needed to work in a particular area, and where to go next to further your career prospects!

University of Central London - Plan of attack

Two cones are placed approximately two metres apart, and two people – an attacker and a defender – are to stand in between. On the blow of a whistle, the attacker is to try and dodge forward to receive the ball from a third player about 5 metres away. The defender, of course, is to try and stop them. They only have 3 seconds.

Want more ideas for netball drills? This is the place to be.
