Congratulations to Celia Fraser in Year 12 who has been selected from over five thousand students within our School Sports Partnership, to become Camp Hill Girls first ever Young Ambassador for Sport. On the 4th October Celia accompanied Miss Caherty to the “Youth Sport Trust” Young Ambassador conference held at Derby Football Stadium. The conference which was hosted by previous Young Ambassadors and a feast of Olympians proved to be an exciting day! With Beijing 2008 still clearly in their hearts the Olympians proudly modelled their gold, silver, and bronze medals to the young Ambassadors and recounted their memories with enthusiasm! This was a real treat for all those involved.
The role undertaken by a young Ambassador falls under five Broad Headlines:
- Increasing participation and promoting healthy active lifestyles for other young people
- Supporting talented young sports people
- Raising awareness of the Young Ambassador Programme, London 2012 and the Olympic and Paralympic games.
- Leading and empowering other young people.
- Having an impact beyond their own school.
Celia completed her Junior Sports Leaders award last year and is now set to organise and coordinate a leadership academy using keen and enthusiastic leaders from the lower years at Camp Hill Girls. Celia and her team, with the support of the PE department, will be asked to represent school sport and promote Olympic values at a community level, by attending local partnership sports competitions and by organising school sporting events.
