The Young Gifted & Talented (YG&T) programme is now well under way, with the government website for YG&T learners and All students at Camp Hill, available at their comprehensive portal at www.dcsf.gov.uk Available at home and school, the website features the Learner Academy and an increasingly comprehensive Learner Catalogue, providing a ‘one-stop shop’ of services, information and opportunities. There are competitions, resources for learning and an extensive library to access information for projects and assignments.. It is well worth having a look. Entry to the YGT membership is entirely free and available online. Former NAGTY members automatically have access to the site through their existing username and passwords.
During the Summer of 2009 six of our KS4 students, namely Jessica Ludman, Emily Freer, Jennifer O’Kane, Alice Mathews, Charlotte Godber and Gurpreet Kaur Sunder took advantage of the opportunities offered by the City of Birmingham University to attend a ‘hands-on’ course dealing with sound and radio production.
This turned out to be free of charge for them as earlier in the year two of our students, namely Henrietta Mosforth and Emily Presswood had won a YGT competition and as a result the school received £500 in tokens for YGT courses. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and at the end of the course were presented with a CD of their work.
