Young Entreprise: Dragon's Day at the INSTITUTE of directors

The morning began with a dreadful storm and a group of year 12 girls, accompanied by Mrs. Widger, running for the number 35 bus to arrive at the destination: Number One Victoria Square.

On arrival we were greeted by a number of business professionals who were slightly intimidating in their blackstraight cut suits and Rolex watches. However we all conquered our initial fears of being thrown in the deep end of the business pool and went to present our business ideas to various members of the prestigious Institute of Directors. They were very impressed with our business acumen and further increased our business knowledge and offered us great advice to help us progress in the Young Enterprise scheme. After a brief but enjoyable lunch in the German market, we continued the afternoon in the Library Theatre with around 200 other pupils from schools around Birmingham. The highlight of the afternoon was meeting Nikki Evans who came 4th in X Factor 2007. She opened up with an inspirational song and progressed to make us all laugh with her quick wit and funny anecdotes. After a number of workshops we all began our journeys home. We would like to thank Mrs. Widger for organising and accompanying us on this trip as it was an amazing opportunity where we gained invaluable advice.
