Cricket
The girls have continued to develop their cricket skills this term with the specialist coaches on Tuesday lunchtimes. The girls also competed in two fixtures this half term. The first game was a softball indoor match against King Edward’s Handsworth. They played well and succeeded with an exciting and convincing win. Later in the term, the team played in the Partnership Cricket Tournament. The girls played very well as a team and won all of their matches thus finishing first place overall. Well done to all the girls involved.
Basketball Coach
This term, we have been lucky to have a Basketball Coach from America to introduce the game to the girls. The Year 11 pupils have had the opportunity to receive specialist coaching during their lessons and the Thursday lunchtime club has been well attended.
Mo, from Louisville, Kentucky, USA has played basketball for over 15 years. She played for four years at BERE College in Kentucky. In 2006, while working on her masters at Wolverhampton University, she played for the Black Country Bears, a Division 2 women's team. In 2007-8, Mo played in Huelva, Spain for C.B Conquero, who won their division championship. Currently, Mo plays for the Birmingham A’s, a Division 1 women’s team.
At first, two-thirds of the class had never played any basketball before – it was a new experience. On the first lesson we didn’t even know how to bounce the ball ! We have now learnt many new skills, such as dribbling, shooting, chest passes, over head passes and the main positions in a game of basketball. After playing a few fun games, we have made progress—all down to Mo’s teaching. Mo will continue coaching us after Christmas and perhaps we may even progress further and be able to play a basketball game to the standard that Mo plays.’

Trampolining
We recently held a novice Key Stage 3 and 4 trampolining competition against Bishop Challener and Swanshurst. The girls were required to perform two routines. After the first routine, Camp Hill was in second place but after a strong second routine from everyone, the girls managed to win the partnership trampolining competition by 0.5 points.
I would like to say a huge well done to the team that consisted of Caitlin Moylan, Hannah Peoples, Beth Jenkins, Abbie Romano, Eliza Small and Ashley Pinnock .
We also had a selection of Key Stage 4 and 5 judges who did a fantastic job without which the competition could not have happened so a huge thank you and well done to them and Miss Caherty for organising the competition.
In addition, five girls were selected to take part in the Regional Schools Trampolining Competition held at Cocks Moors Leisure Centre on Saturday 5th December 2009. The U19 team consisted of Katherine Stanway, Abbie Romano, Emma Haywood and the U15 team consisted of Ellie Langham Walsh & Alice Sutherland. Well done to all girls who took part. They performed with enthusiasm and dedication against tough competition.

Dance Show
Well done to all the girls that took part in The Evening of Dance 2009. There was a fantastic display of dances from around the world. The girls performed a mixture of contemporary, theatrical and modern dances as well as national dances from a range of countries. The girls have worked hard throughout the term to prepare for the show and learn their routines. On the night, they performed with confidence and energy and as a result put on a great show for family and friends. A special thank you and well done to Hannah Rawbone, Isabelle Hirst and Emily Davies who organised the event and managed to raise £1500 in aid of Cancer Research.
It has been a busy and exciting term with many girls attending clubs and fixtures against other schools. We continue to reinforce the importance of an active healthy lifestyle and strive to provide as many opportunities as we can for the girls.
I wish to thank the PE Department and all the staff who have helped to provide these extra curricular opportunities this term and well done to all the girls involved.
