Young Enterprise 2009 – 2010 Bull Ring and School Fairs

At the start of the year sixty Year 12 students decided to set up businesses as part of Young Enterprise. Hush, Fonx, Yours, Hugs & Mugs, Charmed, Bijoux and Scarf were formed as sub-groups of the Camp Hill Girls’ Companies 1 and 2 due to the wide range of product ideas given by the many members. They ranged from personalised mugs containing sweets or teddies, jewellery, phone covers, personalised photo frames, jewellery holders and charms for mobiles. These ideas seemed both realistic and attractive and from past experience we suspected the products would sell well as gifts. We sold our products at lunchtimes and in trade fairs at Christmas and near Mother’s Day which were held in the school. To sell our products to the public we spent one day at a trade fair in the Bull Ring and also intend to go to Touchwood in Solihull. It was very interesting to compare the different consumer markets and identify the reasons. While we sold more in the school fairs, the Bull Ring was a very enjoyable experience from which we learnt a lot about presentation and selling. We had to actually go out and bring in the customers and not just wait for them to come to us and some of us have now discovered new found powers of persuasion!
