Mrs Keane would like to commend the 8 girls in Year 10 who have just completed their GCSE Dance course
(Charlie Cripps, Grace Bygrave, Heather Atkinson, Julia Frost, Annabel Ariathurai, Jocelyn Mildner, Lauren
Machray, Beth Balkham) . The girls who were selected by audition last Summer, have studied the GCSE as an
optional extra over a period of 9 months. They have worked hard to learn a complex dance for their performance
piece, study the course set dance and choreograph their own dances based on chosen stimuli. In addition, the girls
have had the opportunity to attend a professional dance performance ‘Swan Lake’ by Matthew Bourne and study a
variety of professional works. Throughout the course, they have developed their understanding of dance as a
whole and as a result have improved their analytical skills. I wish them all well in their written paper and for their
final result which they will receive during the summer.
On behalf of the GCSE group, I would like to thank Miss Budden for all her hard work and contributions towards
the course. She has been very committed to supporting the group and choreographed the excellent performance
piece which the girls performed in their practical exam. We are all grateful for her help, guidance and
encouragement.
Mrs Keane
