Old Girls' Meeting 11th July 2009

Approximately 70 Old Girls and staff met at school to mark the retirement of Ann Mann, Julia Fagan-King and Sue Cole. We were pleased to welcome Anne Percival and Joan Fisher in addition to the current headmistress, Mrs Dru James.

This was also an opportunity to have conducted tours of the school. These were ably led by girls from Year 12. This was much appreciated. Old Girls marvelled at the updated facilities and new accommodation and many memories were evoked.

Old Girls' Meeting 11th October 2008

Nearly 100 ex-pupils and staff returned to Camp Hill on October 11th to remember and celebrate the past theatrical and musical productions for which the Girls and Boys schools are justifiably famous. Evidence of productions from the early 1930's until the present day was to be seen in a special exhibition. Photographs and programmes were a reminder of how many pupils were involved in both acting and backstage. The pivotal role of the director, whether a member of staff or pupil from the VI form, was evident for all to see. Special tributes were made to both Elizabeth Mullenger and Mike Southworth.

Those attending said "We had a great time, both in the past and on October 11th."

If this has made you want to become involved with the school again, then we would like to invite you to our next meeting in March.

News of Old Girls

The guest speaker at the Y13 Leavers' Service in May was Miss Carolyn Stait, a former pupil, whose successful career in the Royal Navy resulted in her becoming a Commodore and thus the most senior female officer prior to her retirement last October. Her speech, which included very interesting comments on women's choices, was most informative and enjoyed by all. Carolyn left Camp Hill in 1975.

The Head Girl, Deputy Head Girls and other Year 13 also contributed very interesting presentations and most enjoyable music.
