*Please note, at 4pm on Tuesday 23rd February, all Year 9 students will have received a link to the Options Choices Google Form, which is the way that students will submit their final choices this year. They should check their school email for this. We do not expect students to complete this form yet. It is important that parents, carers and students gather as much information as possible, including talking to teaching staff at the Remote Parents' Evening on Thursday 18th March, before making any final decisions.
Please find below a selection of resources relating to Year 9 Options choices for GCSE courses, starting from September 2021.
A video presentation from Ms. Stevens, Deputy Head (Curriculum) and Mr. Brown, Head of Year 9. This video covers the options process itself including tips on how to choose subjects and deadline date for choices; specific information about the core curriculum and option subjects, and information about support available for students during this period.
The Curriculum and Options booklet 2021/22 which provides detailed information about what is taught in each GCSE subject and how each subject is assessed.
Please also refer to the department pages on the school website, which will provide additional information about studying at Key Stage 4. Subject specific pages can be located on the school website through the following links: Main School – Curriculum – Departments. Each subject area has a specific section for Key Stage 4, which is where any additional resources will be found.
Thank you for the questions submitted in response to the Year 9 Curriculum and Options evening. We received very few generic questions from parents and students, and so are responding individually rather than sending out responses to the whole year group.
Should you have any further queries please remember there will be an opportunity to speak to your child's subject teachers at the upcoming Year 9 Virtual Parents' Evening on Thursday 18th March from 4.15pm.
Please feel free to contact Ms Stevens if you have any other questions regarding the Key Stage 4 curriculum.
